Not long ago, they told us, “If you say that homosexuality is a sin, you are speaking hate. After all, the homosexuals are not hurting anyone. So please just keep your hatemongering to yourselves so we can all get along.”
So we did.
Then they said a few minutes later, “Homosexuality is good.”
And we said, “What do you mean, it’s good? No—what God created is good, and God did not create men to be homosexual.”
And they said, “What did we tell you about that hate speech? Keep your destructive opinions to yourself.”
And we did.
A few minutes later, they said, “Homosexuality is the best, and if you don’t say it out loud you are hateful. You must agree with us, and you must praise us.”
And we said, “What? I thought we were all supposed to be quiet about things and just get along.”
You see, neutrality does not exist in the area of morality and truth. For a time, we believed there was, and many of us shut up and refused to speak up about it because we truly thought that was the loving thing to do. We were told that was the loving thing to do. We don’t want to be hateful. But our silence was never enough. We are now being asked to praise sexual perversions in the name of a misguided and twisted sense of “love.”
My sweet daughter, bless her heart, posted a little project on a programming website she enjoys (scratch.mit.edu). A few days ago, she posted a project about “God’s Rainbow,” in which she stated that God made the rainbow and that it is now under attack by God’s enemies. She said things in a graceful way. But Scratch immediately pulled her stuff down because they had a policy against hate and told her if she posted it again they would remove it. So she did something different. She made three pictures of rainbows with messages on them like, “God Is Faithful” and “God Gives Grace to the World.” They wouldn’t allow her to post those at all!
I thought, “Maybe they are neutral on this. Maybe they have a policy to not post anything controversial, since it’s mainly kids on this website.” So I typed “Pride” into the search bar on their website, and this is what I found on page one of the search results:
There is page after page on their website with projects praising pride and, thus, praising homosexuality.
This is not neutral territory. This is full-out war waged against truth and God’s created order of things. My daughter cannot post pictures of actual rainbows with messages about God’s grace, but anyone can post rainbow colors in solidarity with gay and lesbian activism.
And this is for kids.
This is not about Scratch.mit.edu—it’s about the normalization of homosexuality in our culture and the absolute rejection of God and His ways.
Christians, we must be graceful in the way we speak the truth, but we must also SPEAK THE TRUTH boldly and clearly. This must be done with the people in our neighborhoods, at our job sites, in our schools, and at our hobby locations. We will be banned from things. We will be ostracized. We will be laughed at. And then we need to rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before us.
Amen. The sacred/secular distinction is neither possible nor biblical. Many Christians in the West have adopted a position of neutrality and secular pluralism for too long. Our intentions were good, but our theology was flawed, and the results have been disastrous. It is time to repent. It is Christ or Chaos. Anyone who says otherwise is selling something to you and has already sold himself.
Amen, Brother!
