Last week a brother pointed me to a YouTube video called “The Broken Boys of Kenosha” (https://youtu.be/BzAMjU14z4w) and highly recommended that fathers share it with our sons.
After watching it, I completely agree!
Several violent conflicts out of Kenosha, WI, made national news over the past couple of years (Jacob Blake, Kyle Rittenhouse, Joseph Rosenbaum, Anthony Huber). They have a common theme: every one of these young men at the center of the violent incidents was either completely abandoned by or molested and abused by his father.
What is the number one thing you can do to change the world, Dad? Stick with your family and raise your kids right. Be in the home every day. Be the leader. Show them how to live properly. Follow the Lord. Discipline your kids in the Lord. Don’t fail your sons.
It is simple, but it is not easy. God has called us to be unsung heroes. It’s not glamorous and it doesn’t pay well. It often demands time and energy we don’t feel like giving—sometimes we don’t feel we have it to give. But God is gracious and good, and he equips us with the wisdom and energy we need to shoulder this load.
Men, we must step up to the challenge and teach our boys to become men who will follow in our footsteps.
This will grow the Kingdom of Christ and glorify our Father in heaven who never fails his children.
