CNN Business posted an article on Wednesday, May 24, 2023, titled “Target removing some Pride merchandise after anti-LGBTQ threats against staff.”
Target says their employees have received threats by an anti-LBGT campaign which has “impacted their sense of safety and well-being.” In response to these violent threats (which remain unsubstantiated, but are uncalled-for, if true), they are pulling a few choice items from their Pride campaign this year.
Let me translate. Because many people are upset and are pulling their money from their stores, Target is trying to play nice with both sides.
In other words, this boycott has started to work.
I say “started” because this is just the beginning. We may rejoice in what they have pulled off their shelves so far. The CNN article lists the following which people have noticed are now gone from Target’s website and stores:
- A $25 slogan sweater with the words “cure transphobia not trans people”
- An $18 “too queer for here” tote bag
- Items made by LGBTQ brand Abprallen
But the article also says Target has over 2,000 items for sale in support of the LGBTQIA+ community.
Here’s the deal. I am not boycotting Target because of those 10 or 20 removed items. I am boycotting them because they stand in solidarity with Satan. They may have pulled some items that Erik Carnell, the gay Satanist, designed, but they are still publicly and explicitly in league with Satan.
An LGBTQIA+ community does not really exist. They are not a community. If you are lesbian, it means you are a woman. If you are gay, it means you are a man. If you are Trans, it means you think you can change from one sex to the other, but you still only recognize male and female. If you are queer, you recognize more than two sexes and could be anything. If you are intersex, you were born with a condition with exhibits both male and female characteristics (extremely rare and used to be considered a disorder). If you are asexual or claim the +, you are also off into fiction land, believing in a sexual spectrum. These do not form a monolithic community. Where do drag queens fit in this picture, as men who mockingly caricature and cosplay women?
If they were a real community, they should include heterosexuals, because they are trying to fit every sexual type into a single group. Why would heterosexuals not be included?
The only community aspect to it is that they are against heterosexual normality. They are against God’s creation, reality, and truth. True community cannot be based on what you are against; you must have something you stand for.
They say they stand for inclusion—the inclusion of everyone. That’s what a Target manager told me on Monday when I handed her my letter explaining why I’m not going to shop there. But they don’t really stand for inclusion. They don’t include my ideology and faith. She said Target also celebrates the 4th of July and Christmas in addition to Pride Month, so they are all-inclusive. It’s just not my turn to be celebrated in June, I suppose. It’s sexual deviancy month, not keep the marriage bed undefiled month (Heb. 13.4).
The fact is no one is all-inclusive. In removing a few Pride items from their store today, Target has sent the message that they recognize certain boundaries. They admit they crossed a boundary they should not have. They would not offer products which encourage God’s view of marriage (only between one man and one woman). Neither would they champion pedophilia. They are not all-inclusive.
No one should be all-inclusive. We have been sold this lie for years, that we can all just get along and everyone can do as he pleases, as long as he doesn’t hurt anyone else. But it’s a lie. Sin hurts people. Falsehood tears down the truth. Wrong views on sexuality and marriage destroy individuals, families, and societies. Sin brings judgment, and national sin brings judgment on a nation (Pr. 14.34; Jer. 46–51).
That’s why this matters so much—because they are flaunting their sin publicly before God. Though they won’t admit God has authority over them, it’s nevertheless true.
I shall continue to abstain from supporting Target stores until they back off this public praise of sexual deviancy.
